We crowdfunded our dad's speech therapy so he could beat Parkinson's
to speak at our sister's wedding.

Thanks to everyone for their support.

We held a screening of a documentary charting his progress in Camden on February 23 2017.

See some pictures below and visit our fundraising page if you would like to donate towards speech therapy and Parkinson's causes.

Parkinson's Awareness Week

Parkinson's Awareness Week runs from 10-16 April.

It provides a good opportunity to write to your MPs about the condition.

We are keen to find out the extent of speech therapy support services across difference constituencies so it would be great if you could write to your local MP.

To write to your MP just use this website its really easy and there’s a draft below with all the facts if you want to use it. https://www.writetothem.com/

Thanks for your support,

The Shoffman family

Dear [your MPs name here],

This week marks Parkinson’s Awareness Week.

Every hour, someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson's. One person in every 500 has Parkinson's. That's about 127,000 people in the UK.

Many sufferers also develop speech impediments but treatment for this is inconsistent.

Research shows the number of speech therapists in an area can range from 4 to 20 so it seems unfair that Parkinson’s treatment should be a postcode lottery.

I'm [your name here] one of your constituents and I'd really like your help to ask the local NHS trusts what services they offer for speech therapy so we can get a clear picture of support available.

Yours sincerely,
[insert your name]

  1. Parkinson's disease mostly affects older people but can also occur in younger adults. The symptoms are the result of the gradual degeneration of nerve cells in the part of the brain that controls body movement. Parkinson's treatment
